Münster, 9 November 2009 – United Labels AG (ISIN: DE 0005489561), a company specialising in comicware sold under licence, generated consolidated revenue of EUR 28,1 million in the first nine months of 2009 (prev. year: EUR 30,5 million). EBIT for the same period amounted to EUR -0,9 million (prev. year: EUR 0,2 million). Impacting on all of the Group's European enterprises, the decline in revenue affected business within both the Key Account and the Special Retail segment. Within this context, the units in Germany, England and Spain bore the brunt of the downturn.

 

In the third quarter, earnings rose significantly year on year. EBIT increased from EUR -0,1 million a year ago to EUR 0,6 million, while consolidated profit rose from EUR -0,1 million to EUR 0,5 million.

 

United Labels AG further extended its activities relating to its company-operated shops. In July, a new United Labels store was opened at the highly frequented "Maremagnum" shopping centre in Barcelona. October saw the launch of the company's first German airport store in Düsseldorf. Additional openings have been planned in November 2009 (in Hamburg) and in February/March 2010 (in Malaga).

- Consolidated revenue increases by 16,1% to €10,1 million

- Operating result increases to €0,3 million

- Order backlog at record levels

 

Münster, 10 May 2010 – United Labels AG (ISIN: DE 0005489561), a company specialising in comicware sold under licence, achieved an increase in consolidated revenue of 16,1% to €10,1 million (previous year: €8,7 million). At the same time, its operating result (EBIT) increased to €0,3 million over the previous year’s negative result of €-0,5 million.

 

Growth in revenue was attributable mainly to positive business performance at the company’s foreign subsidiaries, with revenue growing particularly strongly in Spain, Italy and Belgium. While revenue increased more than threefold in Italy, it doubled in Belgium and grew by 30% in Spain.

In addition, the measures introduced last year with regard to new marketing and growth programmes led to a record order backlog of €17,9 million. The particularly high level of order intake in the first three months continued beyond the end of the first quarter.

 

Business in Eastern Europe developed well due to the acquisition of new customers, thus contributing to growth in revenue. This year, a double-digit increase in revenue is expected for the region.

Having launched new textiles and clothing collections, United Labels went on the offensive last year, which led to significant revenue increases in the first quarter of 2010.

The company opened new airport stores at the beginning of the year in Hamburg and Malaga and has received permission to open two another shops in Barcelona, which means that by the middle of the year United Labels will be operating eight stores at five different locations.

 

United Labels AG will be hosting its 10th Annual General Meeting in Münster on 19 May 2010.
