Otto E. Umbach joins Supervisory Board of United Labels AG

Münster, 9 January 2013 – Otto E. Umbach has been appointed as a new member of the Supervisory Board of United Labels AG. In 1977, the 62-year-old toy industry expert teamed up with 33 specialty retailers to form a purchasing and marketing group by the name of idee+spiel Fördergemeinschaft Spielwaren Facheinzelhandels-GmbH & Co. KG. Over the course of 35 years in senior management, he established the company as the largest purchasing and marketing group in the toy, model kit and video games industry, with more than 1,000 affiliates in five European countries. Since 2012, Otto E. Umbach has been working as a freelance consultant within the toy industry.

 

The changes implemented by United Labels within the Supervisory Board reflect the company's strategic realignment following the launch of its NextGen programme in 2012. Drawing on extensive knowledge of the toy industry, Otto E. Umbach will also be offering professional support when it comes to further refining the new E-Commerce division introduced by United Labels. This area of the business is covered by Elfen Service GmbH, a subsidiary of United Labels responsible for a new online retail platform for toys launched in 2012. The Managing Director of Elfen Service GmbH is Albert Hirsch, who – alongside Peter Boder as CEO – is also a member of the Management Board of United Labels AG.
