Ad hoc announcement by United Labels AG
Münster, 14/11/11 – Key Account business has proved to be the principal driving force behind revenue growth at United Labels AG (ISIN: DE 0005489561). The producer and distributor of cartoon-based merchandise sold under licence managed to propel Group revenue forward by 23.5 per cent year on year to €43.7 million in the first nine months of 2011 (prev. year: €35.3 million). Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) totalled €0.4 million in the first nine months of 2011 (prev. year: €0.7 million), while consolidated profit stood at €0.0 million (prev. year: €0.1 million).
The year-on-year dip in earnings was attributable to lower margins achieved in the Key Account segment and a 12 per cent decline in revenue generated within the high-margin Special Retail segment. In the coming months, therefore, United Labels AG intends to focus on raising the overall level of earnings by means of more profitable products and "special offer" campaigns in the Key Account segment as well as new licences and merchandise in the Special Retail segment.
The further growth in revenue achieved by United Labels AG in the first nine months of 2011 was driven by the company's Key Account business in Germany. Within this context, the German parent company saw its revenue surge by 78 per cent year on year to €22.6 million in the first nine months of 2011 (prev. year: €12.7 million). The company intensified and extended its business relations with major retail operators during this period. For the coming months, too, one of the key priorities for United Labels AG will be to maintain its forward momentum within the area of Key Accounts.
The foreign subsidiaries operated by United Labels in France and Belgium also achieved revenue growth. Compared to the same period a year ago, the French subsidiary saw its revenue expand by 21 per cent to €1.7 million in the first nine months of 2011. Revenue generated by Colombine, the United Labels subsidiary in Belgium, increased by 7 per cent to €3.6 million.
